Insurance - Guarantee Asset Protection

Guarantee Asset Protection (GAP) protects you against financial loss in the event your vehicle is damaged beyond repair (totaled) or stolen and never recovered.

Since a vehicle's value declines as a result of depreciation, the loan balance can be higher than its actual cash value. Without GAP coverage, you would be responsible for paying the difference between the insurance settlement and the outstanding loan balance. With the purchase of GAP, the deficiency balance may be waived.

A typical example would be if you purchased your vehicle for $31,000, one year later the value would depreciate to $15,350. You still owe $24,281 when it is stolen and never recovered, or is involved in an accident in which it is beyond repair.

Most insurance polices will only reimburse you for the value of the vehicle ($15,350) less the deductible. If the deductible was $1,000, the insurance company would pay $14,350, leaving you with a $9,831 loan balance. GAP protects you against this kind of financial loss. GAP can also be purchased for eligible motorcycles, boats, RVs, travel trailers and campers.

Insurance - Mechanical Breakdown Coverage

Your car payment, insurance and gas probably takes a big chunk out of your wallet every month, but how much would it cost if your car broke down?

Mechanical Breakdown Coverage provides valuable protection against the cost associated with most unexpected mechanical breakdowns (beyond the normal terms and conditions of the manufacturer's standard warranty and after the warranty has expired).
